SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth
On the 12th of September 2024, a significant step towards achieving SDG 8 was taken as DEB, SV, UGM, conducted a training titled ‘Enhancing Financial Access for MSEs to Promote Sustainable Growth and Innovation.’ By empowering SMEs with enhanced ‘bankability,’ this initiative directly promotes sustained and inclusive economic growth. Through a series of practical workshops and expert panel discussions, the training equipped SMEs with the necessary tools and knowledge to navigate the complex financial landscape and leverage digital technologies. By addressing the challenges SMEs face in accessing finance and adopting digital technologies, this initiative can help to create more jobs, foster a more dynamic and resilient private sector, and ultimately improve the livelihoods of countless individuals in Yogyakarta. Islamic banks, as financial institutions, play a crucial role in promoting economic growth and creating decent work opportunities. Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH) deposits can indirectly contribute to these goals by ensuring Islamic banks’ financial health and stability. Healthy Islamic banks can provide loans and financing to businesses, fostering job creation and economic development. Additionally, a robust Islamic banking sector can offer competitive salaries and benefits to its employees, contributing to decent work and economic growth. (Red. Raeef)
